From October 18 to 24, Ian Trevethick, Vice-principal and Ms Julie Allen, Student Support Manager of Four Dwellings High School from Birmingham City UK had a week-long goodwill visit to the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University.
In the welcoming ceremony on the day upon their arrival, students of our school prepared a variety of programmes welcoming our friends from afar, our Principal Wang Peidong gave a warm welcoming speech as well. After that, Mr. Ian Trevethick and Julie Allen, accompanied by Song Jin’an, Vice-principal, visited the Qujiang Campus of the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University. Our British guests discussed Chinese and British education system and school management system etc. with leaders of our school in-depth.
During the visit, the British guests observed a number of classes in our school. In PE class, Mr. Ian Trevethick and Ms. Julie Allen were impressed by Tai Chi that is fully filled with Chinese Culture, and recorded students who were doing various activities from time to time with the camera. In English class, Mr. Ian Trevethick listened ecstaticly, and read the English textbook carefully, then he communicated with teachers on the compilation and content of the textbook. Mr. Ian Trevethick and Ms. Julie Allen had a further discussion with our English and physical teachers about the management structure and the sports activities development between two schools. On October 21, Mr. Ian Trevethick gave a lesson with the theme of the Shakespeare's Macbeth to our students, which was wonderful, full of humor. students concentrated on that, and discussed actively. After-class, Mr. Ian Trevethick spoke highly of a good ability of our students’ expression and pronunciation in English.
On October 22, Mr. Ian Trevethick and Ms. Julie Allen accompanied by Feng Jin, Vice-principal of our school, visited the Xing Qing Campus of the High School Affiliated to Xi'an Jiaotong University. Meantime, Mr. Ian Trevethick gave a vivid English class to our students. Our two guests held talks with English teachers invited by our English teachers. And then, the guests enjoyed the performance that was played by Chinese zither, and admired the painting works of the students. They are attracted by the unique way of ink painting, calligraphy works and paper-cuts.
Week-long visit had deepened mutual understanding and enhanced the friendship between us, furthermore, two schools had discussed detailedly for further exchanges and reached a consensus.
